After working with Chute Boxe Academy, Israel Gomes, Anderson Silva, and Rodrigo Vidal founded the Killer Bees Academy in Curitiba, Brazil in 2003. In 2005, Israel Gomes and Anderson Silva moved to the United States and formed the American Killer Bees Association, thus expanding into an international martial arts organization.

Today, AKB has spread throughout several continents and countries located in North and South America, Europe, and Asia.
